<p>Resveratrol (RSV) as a naturally occurring small molecule has been reported to benefit the cardiovascular system through a dietary supplementation. However, the relevant genetic regulation by RSV has been uncovered. This work is solely to investigate how RSV increases a fecal excretion of total sterols of HF fed C57BL/6J mice to block lipid accumulation in vivo through regulation of PPRAa, HMG-CoA-R, CYP7A1, LDL-R and ABCG5 genes. The results showed that RSV significantly improved the excretion of total sterols through up regulation of mRNA expressions of PPARa, CYP7A1, LDL-R, ABCG5 and down regulation of HMG-CoA-R. These data indicate that beneficial effects from RSV were associated with the favorably altered expression of hepatic and large intestine genes in HF fed mice.</p>

<div style="text-align: justify;">This study was conducted to assess the effects of icariin (ICA) an ingredient of Epimedium species, on reproductive parameters in mice. Serum, uterus and ovarian samples were collected after treatment. We determined the reproductive index (RI) and in vitro maturation (IVM) rates of oocytes. The serum was tested for 17b-estradiol (17b-E2) and progesterone (P4) using radioimmunoassay (RIA) and ovaries were analyzed for mRNA expression of Steroidogenic acute regulatory protein (Star), Cytochrome p450 family 19 subfamilies a polypeptide 1 (Cyp19a1) and 17b-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (Hsd17b1), genes using Real-time Quantitative RT-PCR (RT-qPCR). Protein expression of estrogen receptors (ER) a, b, and progesterone receptor A (PRA) were detected using western blot (WB). ERa from treatment group was increased (p&lt;0.05) while ERb and PRA were decreased (p&lt;0.05). ICA regulated ovarian development through the estrogen receptor pathway. ERa expression was evidently increased and this may be the pathway that is utilized for its mode of action.</div>

<div style="text-align:justify">High-fat-diet (HFD) induced BPH mice model used to examine how aerobics exercise prevents the development of BPH and try to find the mechanism. Materials and Methods: C57BL/6J mice were randomized into three groups for a 6-week intervention: Control group (Co, n = 8) and Diet group (Di, n = 8) fed standard diet, and Exercise and diet group fed standard diet meanwhile run on a treadmill at 12m/min, 30 min/day, 6 days/week (Ex+Di, n = 8). Body weight (BW), fat, prostate weight (PW), prostate index (PI), Estradio(E2), Testosterona (T) &nbsp;and estrogen receptor(ER) were detected. Results: The Di had a higher BW, fat, PW and PI, compared to Co and Ex+Di. BW and PI in Ex+Di significantly lower compared to Di, thus running prevented increase in BW and PI. Although, E2 and T in Di and Ex+Di haven&rsquo;t seen anything statistically significant, compared with Co. However, ER&aacute; in Ex+Di (0.039&plusmn;0.012 ng/ml) was significant reduced (P&lt;0.05) compared with Di (0.046&plusmn;0.011 ng/ml); Compared with Di (0.032&plusmn;0.009 ng/ml), ER&acirc; in Ex+Di (0.039&plusmn;0.011 ng/ml) was significant reduced (P&lt;0.05). Conclusion: Obesity is an important risk factor for the development of BPH. It may also provide scientific evidence to promote weight loss and aerobic exercise beneficial adjuvant therapies for BPH.</div>
