Background: Pyometra is a chronic disease condition in bitches, characterised by the accumulation of pus within the uterus. Multi-drug resistant bacterial strains with biofilm-forming ability are one of the most significant reasons behind the failure of medical management. The present study was envisaged for the detection of antibiotic resistance, biofilm-forming ability and molecular typing of S. aureus isolated from canine pyometra. 
&nbsp; 
Methods: A total of 40 samples were collected from dogs with pyometra and following isolation and identification, DNA was extracted from the pure cultures of 13 coagulase positive Staphylococcus isolates. 
&nbsp; 
Result: Six isolates turned out to be Staphylococcus aureus in nuc gene specific PCR and in antibiogram, all were found to be multidrug resistant. Out of the 13 staphylococcal isolates, eight turned out be positive for the presence of mecA gene, which included five S. aureus isolates. Out of 13 isolates, 53.8% were found to be strong biofilm producers in tissue culture plate method.&nbsp; Among the 13 staphylococcal isolates, 53.8% showed the presence of icaD gene, whereas, 46.1% showed the presence of bap gene. All the six S.aureus isolates obtained in the study were subjected to agr typing by PCR and all belong to agr type I. All the isolates turned out to be belonging to spa type t037.

Molecular Typing of Staphylococcus aureus Isolated from Canine Pyometra

<div>Background: Staphylococcus pseudintermedius is a part of the canine skin microflora and an opportunistic pathogen. It plays a central role in canine pyoderma, otitis and surgical wound infections. These conditions correlate with virulence genes distributed in the bacterial genome. These genes determine strain variability on typing, in turn aiding epidemiological surveillance. The aim of this study was to isolate, identify and characterize Staphylococcus pseudintermedius (SP) and Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus pseudintermedius (MRSP) from dogs with skin infections in Chennai, India. 
 
Methods: SP and MRSP positive isolates were identified by multiplex PCR for nuc and mecA genes respectively. Characterization of the isolates for virulence genes responsible for biofilm formation (icaA, icaD), cell wall adherence (SpsO, SpsK, SpsP, SpsQ, SpsF), toxins (ExpA, ExpB, SIET, Sel, Se-int, LukS, LukF) and gene regulation (Agr, SarA) was performed. 
 
Result: Out of 275 samples, 120 SP and 8 MRSP positive isolates were identified. Only one isolate could be typed as SCCmec Type V whereas other MRSP isolates were non typeable. Agr typing of MRSP isolates revealed type II in 7 isolates and type III in one isolate. Our study revealed that there was no significant difference in the detection of virulence genes between MSSP and MRSP.</div>

Characterization of Staphylococcus pseudintermedius Isolates from Skin Infections of Dogs

Background: The research on potash management in North East India aims to enhance agronomic performance of black rice in organic habitats through SRI-based potassium management, promoting sustainable agriculture, food security and biodiversity. It underscores the crop&rsquo;s cultural, nutritional and economic importance while offering farmers sustainable production strategies. 
&nbsp; 
Methods: To assess the effects of potash management strategies on organic black rice under system of rice intensification (SRI), a field experiment was carried out at Research Farm of Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat, during the kharif seasons of 2019 and 2020. The experiment included twelve distinct treatments with three replications, each arranged in a randomized block design. 
&nbsp; 
Result: The morpho- physiolo, phenological and insect pest resistance were notably influenced by different organic potash management practices under system of rice intensification. From the result it was found that the highest leaf area duration, no of tillers, AGR for dry matter (g day-1&nbsp;plant-1), CGR) for dry matter (g m-2&nbsp;day-1), Phenological attributes, with application of RDK through banana pseudo stem vermicompost with combination of mustard oil cake + 20 kg ha-1) T8. In case of AGR for plant height (cm plant-1&nbsp;day-1) was more in T6&nbsp;(RDK through azolla incorporation + mustard oil cake + 20 kg ha-1). Early flowering and maturity were recorded in treatment T8&nbsp;with application of RDK through banana pseudo stem vermicompost along with 20 kg ha-1&nbsp;mustard oil cake. The incidence of insect pest was also observed low under treatment T8&nbsp;i.e.,&nbsp;application of RDK through banana pseudo stem vermicompost + with mustard oil cake + 20 kg ha-1) and highest pest incidence was found under T1&nbsp;(Control).

Agronomic Performance of Black Rice under an Organic Ecosystem of North East India

<div style="text-align:justify">The present study is an attempt to document production trend and marketing channels in Aliyar reservoir. Secondary data were analysed and reported that the Annual Growth Rate of stocked fish production (IMC and Common carp) decreased by 16%, but an attractive issue was that AGR of non-stocked fish production (exotic and indigenous species) increased by 49%. Mrigal was observed to dominate in total fish production. The study revealed that negative relationship (r -0.4416) existed between total seeds stocked and fish production, while positive relationship was observed in species wise fish production of Rohu (r 0.6557), Mrigal (r 0.8736) and Common carp (r 0.5991) except Catla which proved that stocking density influences production of these fish species. Catla production was negatively (r -0.2141) correlated with stocking density. Hence, this study recommends that reduction in stocking density of Catla seeds may help improve total fish yield. The present study revealed that the reservoir has well organized marketing system with 31 fresh fish marketing stalls.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">Analysis of Fish Production Status and Marketing Structure in Aliyar Reservoir, Tamil Nadu</div>

Background: In the North-Eastern states, Assam has the highest area of cultivation of rapeseed and found to be potential hub for increasing productivity to a great extent. To fulfil the increasing demand for edible oils, interdisciplinary approaches including physiological parameters must be paid off. The suitable genotype for a particular region has to be identified based on physiological efficiency and yield.&nbsp; 
 
Methods: A field experiment was carried out at the Instructional-cum-Research (ICR) Farm, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat-13, Assam during rabi seasons of 2021-22 and 2022-23. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with three replications comprising of 22 different genotypes of rapeseed including TS-38 (Check), TS-46, TS-67, TS-36, TS-29, TS-75-1, TS-75-1TL, TS-75-2ME, TS-75-2-MM, TS-76-1, TS-76-2, JT-90-1, Panchali, Bhawani, CG Toria-4, TKM-20-1, TKM-20-2, JT-14-5, PT-2018-09, CG Toria-3, Tapeshwari and PT-303. The crops were grown following the recommended package of practices. All the morpho-physiological parameters, yield attributes and yield were recorded following the standard methodologies. The correlation coefficients of morpho-physiological characters and different yield components with seed yield were worked out from the pooled values of two years following the standard method.&nbsp; 
 
Result: The results indicated that number of green leaves per plant, stem diameter, total dry weight, total leaf chlorophyll content, AGR and CGR showed highly significant positive correlation with seed yield, clearly indicating their contribution towards higher yield in rapeseed. The number of primary branches and SLW exhibited significant positive correlation with seed yield. Among the yield attributes, number of siliqua per plant, seeds per silique, seeds per plant, sink capacity, stover yield and harvest index showed a highly significant positive correlation with the seed yield.

Correlation Studies of Morpho-physiological Characters with Seed Yield in Rapeseed (Brassica rapa var. Toria)

Background: Azolla is one of the fern plants that has great importance in many fields, such as its value as animal feed and its possession of a number of active substances with antimicrobial and antioxidant properties, in addition to its role in consuming carbon dioxide, which has an important role in climate modification. 
 
Methods: This study was conducted to determine the optimal conditions for A. pinnata growth and its reduction of carbon dioxide, which has a positive effect in reducing global warming on planet Earth. Azolla pinnata&nbsp; was isolated from the Tigris River-IRAQ and molecularly identified using nucleotide sequence analysis of ITS within 5.8S rRNA gene. 
 
Result: Azolla isolated for the first time from the Iraqi environment was molecularly identified to the species level Azolla pinnata strain IRAQ-Tikrit.Has,A.A and registered in NCBI under the accession number PQ836460.1. The results showed a significant increase in CO2&nbsp;concentration in A. pinnata culture over time when incubated in the dark at 10-40oC. On the other hand, the results revealed a continuous decrease in CO2&nbsp;concentration with increased light intensity over time. The interaction between A. pinnata growth duration and light intensity, the lowest CO2&nbsp;concentration reached 375.14 and 362.38 ppm when incubated at light intensity of 10000 lux for 10 days at 20 and 3oC, respectively. The results also showed that there was an increase in the growth of A. pinnata with an increase in the depth of the liquid nutrient medium up to 50 cm, the growth indicators such as absolute growth rate (AGR)&nbsp; and Standing A. pinnata crop (yt) reached 10.53 g/m2/day and 106.42 g/m2&nbsp;with a decrease in CO2&nbsp;to 325.64 ppm, with no significant effects on the growth indicators and CO2&nbsp;concentrations when A. pinnata growing at depths of 60-80 cm. Azolla is one of the biological factors that play a role in reducing carbon dioxide, as it plays an important role in modifying the climate of the Earth&rsquo;s surface if the standard environmental conditions for its growth are established.

Molecular Identification of the Iraqi Aquatic Fern Azolla pinnata and Evaluation of its Efficiency in Reducing CO2 under Various Environmental Conditions

<div>Background: Sustainable maize (Zea mays L.) production demands nutrient management strategies that not only boost crop production but also maintain the soil health. Integrated nutrient management (INM), combining both organic and inorganic nutrient sources, plays a vital role in achieving these goals. 
 
Methods: A field experiment was conducted during the both Kharif (2024) and Rabi (2024-2025) seasons at Experimental Farm of School of Agriculture, SR University, Warangal, Telangana, India. The study was conducted in a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three replications and eight treatments viz: T1- Control, T2- 100% RDF, T3- 100% RDF + vermicompost @ 5 t ha-&sup1;, T4- 100% RDF + poultry manure @ 2.5 t ha-&sup1;, T5- 100% RDF + pressmud @ 12.5 t ha-&sup1;, T6- 75% RDF + vermicompost @ 5 t ha-&sup1;, T7- 75% RDF + poultry manure @ 2.5 t ha-&sup1; and T8- 75% RDF + pressmud @ 12.5 t ha-&sup1;. 
 
Result: Among the INM treatments, 100% RDF combined with poultry manure at 2.5 t ha-1, proved to be the greatest effective in significantly enhancing the growth parameters and physiological indices, including crop growth rate (CGR), absolute growth rate (AGR) and relative growth rate (RGR). This integrated nutrient management approach also led to improved nutrient uptake, superior yield attributes and recorded the highest grain yield (7201.6 kg ha-&sup1;) and stover yield (13,201.1 kg ha-&sup1;). Moreover, it exhibited the highest nitrogen efficiency ratio (211.2 kilogram grain kg-&sup1; N) and economic nitrogen use efficiency (2.2 kilogram grain ₹-&sup1;).</div>

Optimizing Maize Yield and Nutrient Dynamics Through Integrated Nutrient Management in CP 858 Hybrid under Warangal Region of Telangana

<div>Background: Okra is an important vegetable crop in India, Method of fertilization also plays an important role in supplying the nutrient to the plants because, the efficacy of fertilizers applied in soil being low due to various losses and fixation, mainly in area of problematic soil. Water and fertilizers are the two important inputs which are used scientifically and judiciously through precision farming technologies to increase productivity, profitability and nutrient use efficiency in okra seed yield and quality.&nbsp; 
 
Methods: The experiments were conducted during kharif 2016 and kharif 2017 to study the effect of precision farming technologies including fertigation and black polythene mulching to know the crop growth, yield, quality of seeds and root studies in okra seeds var. Arka Anamika and at ICAR-IIHR Hesaraghatta, Bengaluru. The experiment was laid out in RBD with three replication and four treatments each with mulch and&nbsp;on mulch&nbsp;viz., 100:50:75 N:P2O5:K2O kg ha-1 100:50:100&nbsp; N:P2O5:K2O kg ha-1&nbsp;T3-150:75:112.5 N:P2O5:K2O kg ha-1 T4- 150:75:150 N:P2O5:K2O kg ha-1 compared with soil application treatments. &nbsp; 
 
Result: Application of water soluble fertilizer @ T4-150:75:150 NPK kg/ha through fertigation either mulch (14.05q/ha) or non mulch (11.83q/ha) recorded significantly higher seed yield than fertilizer through soil application (9.92 q/ha).Similarly significantly higher value of Absolute Growth Rate (AGR) Crop Growth Rate (CGR) and root character were observed in the NPK fertigation treatment with or without mulch than the soil application of fertilizers (NPK soil application @ 100:50:100kg per ha (T9) and NPK soil application @ 150:75:150kg per ha (T10). Significantly higher root parameter tap root length (21.03cm), average length of primary roots (64.63cm), number of primary roots (10.83 nos), fibrous roots arising from main stem (26 nos) and root dry weight (23.07 g/plant) were recorded in the T4-150:75:150 NPK kg ha-1 through fertigation (WSF) with mulch than the fertigation without mulch and fertilizer applied through soil.</div>

<div>Effect of Fertigation and Mulching on Root Studies and Crop Growth Indices for Seed Production in Okra [Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench]</div>

<div>The objective of this research was to find out the impact of zinc and organic fertilization on the productivity of rice. Two separate field experiments were conducted in a zinc deficient soil belonging to Typic Haplusterts and Typic Ustifluvents during Rabi 2011-2012. The results revealed that grain and straw yield was significantly enhanced on addition of zinc or organics or both over control in both soils. The rice yield increased with zinc doses and maximum yields was noticed with 5 mg Zn kg-1 and declined at 7.5 mg Zn kg-1. While addition of poultry manure recorded the maximum rice yields and was on par with vermicompost. However the highest grain yield (6103, 6344 kg ha-1) and straw yield (8369, 8459 kg ha-1) was recorded with application of 5 mg Zn kg-1 and poultry manure in Vertisol and Entisol respectively. Similarly, addition of 5.0 mg Zn kg-1 along with poultry manure @ 10 t ha-1 registered the highest growth traits it was comparable with vermicompost at same level of zinc, but superior to other treatment combination.&nbsp;</div>
