MORPHO-PHYSIOLOGICAL TRAITS AS SELECTION CRITERIA FOR YIELD IMPROVEMENT IN MUNGBEAN [VIGNA RADIATA. (L.) WILCZEK]
1Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding,
Kisan P.G. College, Simbhaoli-245207 (Ghaziabad), India
ABSTRACT
Forty genotypes of mungbean were evaluated under four diverse environments to study the
correlations (genotypic and phenotypic) and path coefficient analysis on the basis of twelve morphophysiological characters. The seed yield showed positive and significant association with number of pods/cluster, number of pods/plant, number of seeds/pod, 100 seed weight, biological yield and harvest index. Further, path coefficient analysis identified biological yield and harvest index as important parameters as these showed maximum and positive direct effect on yield and also all other characters contributed indirectly towards seed yield, via these characters.
