STABILITY ANA.' LYSIS FOR YIELD AND ITS COMPONENTS IN SESAME (SESAMUM INDICUM L.)
1Department of Agricultural Botany,
Agricultural College and Research Institute, T N A U, Madurai - 625 104, India
ABSTRACT
Sixty four sesame genotypes comprising 48 hybrids and 16 parents were evaluated for stability parameters for days to 50% flowering, number of branches, numbers of capsules and single plant yield over three environments. The analysis of mean squaresdue to genotype × environment (linear) and non linear deviation were significant for all the characters studied. The parents viz., TNAU 28, TN 8467 and B 203 and the F 1 hybrids namely SI 42 × VRI 1 and B 203 × SVPR 1 were identified as stable genotypes with high yield and performance per se. Therefore, these genotypes can be recommended for varied environments to exploit their high yield potential.
