ABSTRACT
Investigation was carried out to identify restorers/maimtainers with WA based CMS lines. Various inbred lines behaved differently in four CMS back grounds in respect of their maintainer/restorer reaction. Lines R-42, R-43, R-44, R-46, R-47, R-56, R-51, R-52, R-54, IR-64, IR-66, DRR-714, IR10198, IR 13419 and JGL 11118 identified as potential restorers at over the locations and these lines can be utilized for developing new potential hybrids. Fertility restoration studies indicated that restorer lines (R-43, R-44, R-52 and R-54) were governed by two independent dominant genes. A restorer with more than one independent gene is likely to produce the hybrids with higher fertility restoration and consequently increased yield.
