SIDEROPHORE PRODUCTION BY FAST AND SLOW GROWING GREENGRAM RHIZOBIA (BRADYRHIZOBIUM SP. VIGNA)
1Division of Microbiology
Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi-110 012, India
ABSTRACT
Under Iron-limiting conditions, many bacteria secrete ferric Iron-specific ligads,
generically termed slderophores. to aid in the sequestering and transport of Iron.
We report he're the production of siderophores by greengram rhizobia (Bradyrhizobium
sp. Vigna). Production of slderophores by rhizobia was detected via the chrome
azurol S assay, a general test for slderophores which Is independent of slderophore
structure.
