The effect of date of sowing on infestation level by the yellow stem borer, Scripophaga incertulas (Wlk.) was studied in two rice varieties namely 80–200 (tall) and Kranti (dwarf). The most suitable date of planting of rice was found to be 30th June and 15th July. Delay in planting resulted in significant increase in the infestation level in both tall and dwarf varieties.
