ABSTRACT
Streptomycin resistant pathogenic isolates of Pseudomonas mori were recovered from bactelial leaf spot lessions on mulberry leaves sprayed with the antibiotic for disease control. Efforts to detect such straints indicated their presence in 8 of 15 mulberry gardens in intensive sericultural areas of Kamataka. Satisfactory disease control was not possible with streptomycin due to the presence of resistant straints. The isolates were sensitive to tetracycline indicating the reason for successful control of the disease by commercially available agricuItura1 antibiotic Streptocyciine (streptomycin + tetracycline). The study reports for the first time the occurrence of streptomycin resistant strains of P mori in mulberry gardens.
