Adsorption of sulphate were studied in soil collected after the harvest of maize and wheat crop from permanent manurial trial started in 1956-1957 on Alfisol under maize-wheat cropping sequence. Adsorption of sulphur was highest at lower soil pH. Lower value of adsorbed sulphate was reported with continuous addition of FYM, either alone or in conjuction with fertilizers. The higher (60.85 and 61.93 mg S kg-1 soil) adsorption of sulphate was observed in plot receiving NPK (T9) after maize and wheat harvest, respectively.
