An Experiment was under taken to study the nature of gene action in the biparental progeny of the cross DCB 1799 X Gowri in NC II design during Kharif 2002. Seed yield and yield traits like number of primary branches, seeds per capsule, thousand seed weight, biological yield and harvest index advocated the importance of dominance variance while, plant height, capsules on main steam capsules on primary branches registered the importance of additive gene action and usefulness of these traits in the future selection.
