STUDY ON GENETIC VARIABILITY AND CORRELATION OF MORPHO-AGRONOMIC CHARACTERS WITH PROTEIN AND CARBOHYDRATE CONTENTS IN RICE BEAN
1School of Agricultural Sciences and Rural Development (SASRD),
Medziphema-797106, Nagaland, India.
ABSTRACT
An investigation was carried out with a set of 50 germplasm lines of rice bean procured from
different parts of Nagaland to study their genetic variability along with correlation analysis of
morpho-agronomic characters with contents of protein and carbohydrate. The significant mean
sum of squares due to genotypes indicated the existence of a wide range of variability among the
various germplasm lines. Carbohydrate content showed positive and significant correlations with
most of the traits under study unlike that of protein, which exhibited negative correlations
