EFFECT OF SOWING TIME ON PERFORMANCE OF SOYBEAN, GLYCINE MAX (L) MERILL VARIETIES DURING RABI AND SUMMER IN VERTISOLS

ABSTRACT
Field experiment was conducted during rabi and summer seasons of 2004 and 2005 in
vertisols at Agricultural Research Station, Adilabad, Andhra Pradesh, India to study the
performance of soybean varieties JS-335, PK-1029 and MACS-450 with different sowing dates.
Soybean mean seed yield was higher in rabi season than summer season. September 20th
sowing with JS-335 variety was promising in rabi while in summer, sowing on January 30th with
JS-335 variety performed better.
