SOME ALTERNATIVE FORMS OF LOGISTIC-CURVILINEAR MODEL FOR POULTRY EGG PRODUCTION CURVES
1Division of Livestock Economics, Statistics and Information Technology,
Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar - 243 122, India
ABSTRACT
- Two alternative forms of logistic-curvilinear model to describe the poultry egg production
- curve were proposed and compared with 7 existing models viz., compartment, logistic - curvilinear, gamma type, McNally modified gamma type, Adams-Bell, double compartment and linear logistic on the basis of 4-weekly egg production records from 20th to 72nd week of age of Aseel x CARI Redmaintained at Central Avian Research Institute, Izatnagar. The proposed model Nt = a e-bt /(1 + c e-dt + f/t) + εt was found best among these models to describe egg production curve and has
- shown higher predictability power of total egg production records with partial records.
