1College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Mannuthy, Thrissur – 680 651 Kerala
ABSTRACT
A cognitive test to assess the knowledge of farmers about scientific management and feeding
of calves was developed. An initial item pool of 25 items on scientific management and 19
items on feeding of calves were initially constructed for item selection. The discrimination and
difficulty indices of each of these items were calculated after administering it to 72 respondents.
Nine items with respect to both domains having difficulty indices in the range 30- 80 and
discrimination indices in the range 0.3-0.55 were selected.
