The North Eastern region comprising of eight states holds a unique position in the world map of Citrus occurrence and diversity. This region holds 17 species, out of which 8 are indigenous to this region. Despite of being a natural home and possessing wide diversity of Citrus species, none of these states, Citrus production and productivity figures could make a significant impact on the national average of Citrus production. In this review work, the occurrence, distribution; their economic importance, problems and prospects of the Citrus cultivation in this region have been discussed.
