The whitefly, Bemisia tabaci Gennadius and cotton leafhopper, Amrasca biguttula biguttula (Ishida) have developed resistance against most of the commonly used insecticides due to indiscriminate use in cotton specially for the control of bollworms. The notable insecticides against which whitefly has developed resistance are sulprofos, methyl parathion, malathion, monocrotophos, DDT, chlorpyriphos, fenthion, buprofezin and pyriproxyfen. Whereas leafhopper has developed resistance against fenvalerate, malathion, dimethoate, oxydemeton methyl, phosphamidon, cypermethrin, deltamethrin and zeta-cypermethrin. Various tactics have been summarized to manage insecticide resistance against these pests.
